What is breast reduction?
In the Little Rock, AR, North Little Rock, AR, Pine Bluff, AR and surrounding communities, women with unusually large, sagging, or uneven breasts may be helped through breast reduction surgery at Dr. English's Little Rock practice. This surgery reduces the dissatisfaction some women experience due to discomfort that results from the size of their breasts or the pressure of bra straps on their shoulders. Large breasts may also interfere with physical activities and make it difficult to find clothes that fit properly.
The typical breast reduction technique is performed by making an incision around the areola. The incision is extended downward to the base of the breast where it joins with a horizontal incision in the crease. The incision below the areola forms an upside-down T.

Is a breast reduction right for me?
Good candidates for breast reduction are women of relatively normal, stable weight whose breast development is complete. Because significant amounts of breast tissue are removed, breast reduction may impair the ability to breastfeed. At our Little Rock practice, breast reduction is performed on healthy individuals who do not have a life-threatening illness or medical condition that can impair healing, non-smokers, and individuals with a positive outlook and specific goals in mind for improving their physical symptoms, breast size and shape.
What results should I expect right after surgery?
Once your procedure is complete, dressing or bandages will be applied to your incisions. Initial healing will include swelling and discomfort at the incision sites. Discomfort is common and can be controlled with medication. A support bra may be recommended around the clock for the first few weeks. It is important to keep the incision sites clean.
Most of our Little Rock, North Little Rock, and Pine Bluff breast reduction patients were ready to return to work after about 10 days.
