MICRONEEDLING

WHAT IS MICRONEEDLING

Microneedling, also known as collagen induction therapy, is a procedure that creates tiny needle punctures in the top layers of the skin. This creates micro-tears, causing your body’s healing mechanisms to kick into high gear in order to repair the damage. As part of these healing mechanisms, your body produces more collagen and elastin, leading to firmer, tighter skin with fewer wrinkles than before. This amazing skin rejuvenation procedure is minimally-invasive, helps minimize the signs of aging, and improves the appearance of scars.

The microneedling procedure is performed here in our Little Rock office on an outpatient basis. We sometimes use a topical anesthetic to numb your skin, although many of our patients report the amount of discomfort is easily tolerable even without anesthesia. Following microneedling, your skin may be red, puffy, and slightly swollen, but these side effects will disappear on their own within a few days.

BENEFITS OF MICRONEEDLING

Microneedling addresses the root cause of aging, namely decreased collagen and elastin production. As such, it is one of the most effective ways to turn back the clock without going under the knife. Microneedling procedures can be performed anywhere on the face or body, and may be repeated every six to eight weeks in order to maintain results.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR MICRONEEDLING?

You may be a good candidate for microneedling if you do not mind having skin that is slightly red for a short while after treatment. Many of our microneedling patients schedule this procedure for a time when they can stay home for a day or two afterwards.
