Breast Augmentation in Little Rock, AR
Dr. English, a triple board-certified surgeon at English Plastic & Cosmetic Surgery Center, offers various plastic and cosmetic surgery procedures to the residents of Little Rock, Conway, Pulaski County and the surrounding communities in Arkansas.
Breast augmentation, also known as mammoplasty, is a surgical procedure to add volume and contour to the breasts. During a breast implant procedure, Dr. English can increase your breasts by several bra cup sizes through the insertion of a silicone or saline implant behind your natural breast tissue. Breast augmentation is the most popular plastic and cosmetic surgery procedure in the United States today, and thousands of Arkansas women have chosen to alter the size of their bust line through breast implants.
There are times when we look in the mirror and notice certain aspects about our body that we’d like to change. Many women may be generally happy with the way they look, but there may be one specific area they’d like to alter: their breasts. Some don’t like the fact that their breasts are too small or are out of proportion with the rest of their body. Others might have breasts that sag or look “deflated”. If you fall into one of these categories, and you’re ready to make a significant change in the appearance of your breasts, then a visit to Dr. English at his Little Rock, AR, practice to discuss cosmetic breast surgery/augmentation, is the first step towards realizing your desired goal.
An important part of the preoperative consultation with Dr. English includes a determination of the desired breast size and shape. Although many different breast contours can be achieved, a decision must be made that coincides with total body size, shape and the existing breast tissue. When performing breast augmentation at his Little Rock practice, Dr. English usually prefers to place the implants beneath the chest wall muscle. This technique typically results in softer and more natural looking breasts both standing and lying down. This placement also decreases the possibility of unnaturally firm and painful breasts while also improving the reliability of mammograms.
Many breast implant patients find it helpful to view breast augmentation before and after photos when considering the various options available to them. Click here to see some breast implant before and after pictures.

What is fat grafting augmentation of the breasts?
Women have often wondered if there was a way to take fat from areas where they had too much and move it to areas where there is not enough, especially the breasts. Now it is possible! At his Little Rock, AR, practice, Dr. English offers a technique where fat can be moved from the waist and hips to the breasts. This technique is called fat grafting and is an alternative to breast implants.
How is fat grafting to the breast performed?
Two procedures are performed during a fat grafting to the breast. The first is done to harvest fat cells from a donor area, while the second involves their placement into the breasts. For your convenience, both procedures are performed on the same day.
During a fat grafting procedure, Dr. English removes a substantial amount of fat using a cannula connected to a sterile closed canister. Next, fat from the canister is placed into a syringe, where it is meticulously injected via tiny 9mm ports using a special tool developed specifically for fat grafting.
Why fat grafting of the breasts instead of implants?
Fat grafting to the breasts has many advantages over implants, but the major advantages are:
- The fact that fat from your own body is unlikely to be rejected by it
- Dr. English may use your harvested fat in a greater number of ways, resulting in more possible breast shapes
- Fat grafting of the breast is a minimally invasive procedure that comes with a decreased risk of scarring
- Fat may be used to cover breast implants or re-form the mounds surrounding them, making this an ideal procedure for correcting augmentations that appear unnatural
Who might consider fat grafting of the breasts?
- Women in good health
- Ladies with sufficient fat in a donor area
- Reconstruction candidates
- Females who might be considering breast implants, yet would prefer a more natural solution
- Women with a history of normal mammograms who are not considered at risk for developing breast cancer
The recovery time for this procedure is about 1 week.

How is the surgery performed?
At the English Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery Center in Little Rock, AR, breast augmentation surgery is carried out under general anesthesia and is performed at our accredited surgical facility. Prior to surgery, your surgeon will make marks on breasts to guide him in making the necessary incisions. Every effort is made to reduce the length of scars and to make them as inconspicuous as possible.
What is recovery like?
Discomfort following breast augmentation surgery is generally very mild or moderate, and can easily be alleviated with over-the-counter medications such as ibuprofen or acetaminophen. Clients undergoing breast augmentation may wear a special bra for several weeks and may be asked to limit certain activities that interfere with the healing process.
Swelling and discoloration may occur but usually subsides in a few days or weeks. Areas of numbness, firmness and tenderness around the incisions and under the skin are common. Normal feeling returns several weeks to months after surgery; however, the sensations of the breasts may never be quite the same (this is uncommon with these types of procedures). Scars resulting from the incisions are typically permanent, although they do tend to fade significantly as time goes on. Eighteen to 36 months may be required for this fading process to be completed.
Most of our breast augmentation patients plan to take seven to ten days off from work and other obligations. Strenuous activities must be avoided for a month to six weeks.
How much does breast augmentation cost in Little Rock?
Each breast augmentation procedure is unique because it is performed with YOU in mind. Since your needs will be different from other patients, it will not be possible to provide you with an exact cost until after you meet with Dr. English the first time. Once he has established a treatment plan, we can then go over the cost and discuss which method of payment might be right for you. We accept cash, personal checks, and major credit cards, in addition to financing through CareCredit® or MedLoanFinance.com.
Breast augmentation surgery procedures are generally considered elective, and are therefore not covered under most health insurance plans. As such, our office does not accept any form of health coverage.
