BOTOX

Many wrinkles originate from creases in the skin that are caused by making the same expression over and over. These “frown lines,” “crow’s feet,” and “smile lines” result from the contraction of muscles under the skin. BOTOX® Cosmetic (commonly referred to as simply, "BOTOX") improves these wrinkles by blocking the electrical impulse from reaching the area. As a result, the muscle becomes less active, the skin over the muscle relaxes, and the wrinkle gradually softens and disappears.

BOTOX injections are used to improve wrinkles between the eyebrows, on the forehead and around the eyes. On occasion, other areas may also be treated with BOTOX.

During the BOTOX treatment, a small amount of BOTOX is injected into the facial muscle with a tiny needle. A topical numbing agent is used to anesthetize the area being treated. In some cases, our patients also used nitrous (similar to a dental procedure) during the injections. The relaxing effects on the muscle become more pronounced over the next few days and usually last three to six months.

BOTOX has been used safely for wrinkle therapy for over 20 years. The small amounts used for cosmetic purposes result in few side effects. Therefore, there are few restrictions regarding BOTOX treatments. Women who are pregnant and people who have a neurological disease, however, should not be treated.

BOTOX does not directly affect sensory facial nerves so there should be no numbness in the injected area. “Untreated” muscles are unaffected so facial expressions are not dramatically altered.

FILLERS

Dermal fillers are non-surgical treatments designed to lift sagging skin, smooth wrinkles, and provide an overall younger appearance. These procedures provide subtle improvement so that others do not notice you have had work done, yet notice there is something different about you. For your convenience, we offer the following dermal fillers, all of which can be performed on your lunch hour:

  • Juvederm®
  • Volbella®
  • Restylane®
  • Restylane Lyft®

Most of our patients can easily undergo dermal fillers; however, we may advise against them if you have a bleeding disorder or are allergic to any of the product’s ingredients. Prior to treatment, Dr. English may also advise you to stop smoking or to refrain from taking certain over-the-counter medications, such as aspirin, that thin the blood.

FACIALS

Here at English Plastic and Cosmetic Surgery Center, we know that not everyone desires surgery. Many of our patients are not quite yet ready for it, while others may simply want to feel pampered or prepare for an important event. For these individuals, we are proud to offer a full-service facial spa to help you look and feel your very best. Through a custom facial, we can address a variety of skin care issues that may include:

  • Acne
  • Enlarged pores
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Poor texture

A rejuvenating facial does more than just improve the look of your skin, it also re-energizes your mind and body. We begin with a paraffin treatment for your hands to soften and smooth the skin. This is followed by a deep cleansing of your face and neck, along with a facial massage to increase circulation and provide a warm glow. A facial masque will then be applied to address any particular skin concerns you may have. Your rejuvenating facial procedure will also include light massage of the arms, neck, and shoulders, aromatherapy, and the application of an appropriate moisturizer.

HYDRAFACIALS

Many facials and related procedures, such as chemical peels, address only one skin problem. Hydrafacials, on the other hand, are a multistep procedure that tackles several issues during a single session, leaving you with an enhanced glow that might not be possible with more traditional facials. A typical hydrafacial consists of the following steps:

  • Cleansing and peeling to gently exfoliate dead skin cells and resurface the skin.
  • Extracting debris from pores via a suction technique, followed by hydrating with a special moisturizing cream.
  • Fusing or sealing the final result with antioxidants and peptides to protect and nourish.

A hydrafacial provides more dramatic results than what is possible through traditional facials. You’ll feel pampered and special during your hydrafacial, and will revel in the brilliant, youthful complexion that is your finished result.

You may be a good candidate for a hydrafacial if you have not achieved good results from other facials or have more serious skin issues you would like to address.

LATISSE

WHAT IS LATISSE?

As we age, our head is not the only place where thinning hair takes place. Many people also experience thinning lashes to such a degree that even mascara will not cover the condition up. Latisse® is a prescription-strength formula designed to help you regrow lashes that are too thin, short, or light, and has been proven to regrow lashes in only a matter of weeks.

BENEFITS OF LATISSE

With Latisse, you can enjoy fuller, thicker lashes whenever you like. No need to pile on layers of mascara or worry about gluing false eyelashes to your lids. You’ll look great all the time, even when you do not have a chance to put on makeup or find that yours has faded or washed away.

AM I A GOOD CANDIDATE FOR LATISSE?

You may be a good candidate for Latisse if you have noticed your lashes getting thinner, shorter, or less distinct. To enjoy the benefits, you must be committed to applying the product consistently every evening according to Dr. English’s instructions.
