Rhinoplasty reshapes the nose to improve appearance, function, or both. Small adjustments to the size, contour, or angle of the nose can create balance with other facial features and enhance overall harmony.
Benefits of rhinoplasty may include:
Balancing the size, shape, or proportions of the nose
Correcting breathing problems caused by structural issues
Repairing deformities from injury or previous surgery
Reducing the appearance of bumps or asymmetries
Enhancing facial balance for a more harmonious look
Modern techniques make it possible to achieve natural results that elevate your appearance without looking surgically altered.
Dr. English tailors each rhinoplasty to the individual patient’s goals, anatomy, and overall facial features. Your surgery may involve:
Refining the Nasal Bridge
By smoothing bumps or reducing width
Adjusting the Nasal Tip
By reshaping a tip that's too large, drooping, or upturned
Resizing the Nostrils
By narrowing overly wide or flared nostrils
Straightening a Crooked Nose
Which is often caused by injury or birth defects
Improving Breathing
By correcting a deviated septum or internal valve collapse
In some cases, Dr. English recommends chin surgery at the same time as rhinoplasty to maintain ideal facial proportions. You can always expect a surgical plan tailored to you.
Your consultation at our Little Rock plastic surgery office is intended to give you clarity and confidence. During your visit, Dr. English will:
Review your medical history and overall health
Assess your facial structure, including skin thickness and harmony with other features
Discuss your goals in detail and listen closely to your concerns
Explain his surgical techniques and anesthesia options
Provide candid feedback about what rhinoplasty can help you achieve
You’ll leave your consultation with a clear understanding of your options and the support to make the decision that’s right for you.
Check Your Candidacy
We generally recommend rhinoplasty for candidates who are in good overall health, have realistic expectations about their results, don’t smoke, and are old enough to have a fully developed facial structure.
Most patients can expect swelling to peak within 72 hours and begin improving soon after. Bruising around the eyes typically resolves in three to six weeks. Nasal congestion may last four to 12 weeks, while subtle swelling can take a few months to fully resolve. Expect to see refinement in your final results for up to a year.
Should I avoid any activities after surgery?
Protect your results by avoiding strenuous exercise, direct sun exposure, and any activity that risks injury to the nose for several weeks. Don’t rest eyeglasses on the bridge of your nose for six weeks to three months after surgery. Dr. English will give you personalized and detailed recovery guidelines.
Will my rhinoplasty scars be visible?
In most cases, Dr. English will make the incisions inside the nostrils, leaving no visible scarring. In cases where he needs to make an external incision, he’ll place it carefully so it’s virtually invisible.
Can rhinoplasty improve my breathing problems?
Yes! Many of our Little Rock rhinoplasty patients undergo this plastic surgery procedure specifically to correct structural issues such as a deviated septum, enlarged turbinates, or internal valve collapse. These adjustments can significantly improve airflow and your quality of life.
When is the right age for rhinoplasty?
Dr. English recommends waiting for rhinoplasty until facial growth is complete. This is typically around age 16 or older for girls and 18 or older for boys. Adults of any age, even into their 60s or 70s, can be great candidates for rhinoplasty as long as they’re in good health.
“I have been going to Dr English for many many years and can honestly say every procedure I have had done has been perfect with no problem whatsoever.
